OVERSEAS APPLICANTS
INCLUSIVITY WAS BORN HERE IN 1828
10,000 PEOPLE FROM 120 COUNTRIES - THAT’S THE ROYAL FREE WAY
Over our 200-year history, overseas staff have made a vital contribution to the care of our patients, our expertise and the vibrant culture of our hospitals.
Today, we’re proud to work with people from 120 different countries and provide a dedicated support and development service for overseas applicants. This brings you advice on everything from gaining the right qualifications and visas, to learning new skills and finding your way around your new home.
FROM HERE ON, IT’S THE ROYAL ‘WE’
Working overseas can seem complicated, but we’re here to help at every stage.
For example, if you’re a qualified nurse, living in a non-EU country, and currently undertaking the NMC overseas nursing registration process, we can offer courses, funding and support that helps you develop your skills and move forward.
SET THE BENCHMARK FOR EXCELLENCE
EVEN OUR EXPERTS ARE STUDENTS
A willingness to continually learn and improve is what sets our people apart and training plays a key role in our approach. To guarantee the world-class expertise our patients deserve, the Royal Free is a leader in training of doctors, nurses, midwives and medical professionals, with places for over 350 nurses and more than 600 doctors.
These internationally-recognised programmes offer unrivalled opportunities to develop your clinical and leadership skills in a supportive environment.
WE’VE GOT YOUR BACK
Alongside a lively and vibrant working atmosphere, and a structured professional development programme, our size and resources enable us to offer you a range of attractive staff benefits. These provide expert help with finding accommodation and childcare, minimise the costs of commuting and look after your health and wellbeing.
SEASON TICKET LOANS
We can help you spread the cost of travel season tickets for bus and rail travel with a loan. You can then pay for this in instalments from your salary, spreading the cost over 12 months – interest free.
HEALTH & FITNESS
All staff members can access ‘The Rec Club’ – a sports and social club, at a discounted rate. The club offers a wide range of facilities including a gym, sauna, numerous fitness classes, personal trainers, and relaxation and beauty therapies.
NURSERY AND CHILDCARE
From nurseries and nannies, to a dedicated holiday play scheme, we offer a range of childcare options and a dedicated Family Information Service. You can also talk to a childcare coordinator and access childcare vouchers, to help minimise the costs of your childcare.
STAFF ACCOMMODATION
To help you find an affordable home close to the Royal Free London sites, we provide an exclusive accommodation service that can speed up your search.

YOUR VISA
ELIGIBILITY FOR A UK VISA
To work in the UK, you will need a current visa. You can check your eligibility and find out more here. As your employer, we may be able to sponsor you for a Tier 2 visa, or request a Tier 2 visa, if your role meets certain criteria. Your recruitment coordinator will be able to tell you more about this.
